Year 6 Team Building Activity
At the end of this Term we took part in a Year 6 Team building challenge in the Auditorium. We had to work together to build a bridge that was wide enough for a ball to pass through and strong enough to hold a dictionary.
Email to Kings School
To Oliver,
Thank you for sending us your interesting email about pollution. We didn’t know that you had to put two layers of sunblock on in the summer time. We didn’t know that New Zealand was right under the ozone layer. Now all of us will hopefully put two layers of sunblock on in the summertime.
In Room 21 we have been learning about Soil. Our first science experiment we did was looking through soil to see if we could see any creatures that live in the soil. There were ants, worms and much more.
We have also done something called The Turbidity Test. It’s when you move you move a magnet through the water with a certain amount of soil inside and then you see how far you can see the magnet. This experiment proves how clear the water is.
Did you know that there is more micro-organisms in a spoonful of soil than there is people on Earth? There are four different layers of soil. Topsoil, subsoil, weathered rock and bedrock. We have also been learning about what life would be like without soil. Soil is so important to us that this year the United Nations said that it is The International Year of the Soil.
Thank you for reading our email we hope you enjoyed it.

About The Artist
About the Artist
Ashton is 11 Years old. He lives in New Zealand, Auckland. He is a year 6 student at Elm Park School. He was born on the 11th August 2004. Ashton’s family are Europeans but he was born in New Zealand.
His favourite subjects in school are PE, Silent Reading.
His favourite part in his art piece is when he varnished the colour wheel eye. He liked it because he enjoyed making the eye look more realistic. He has learned how to colour in the colour wheel.
When Ashton grows up he would like to join up with the Football/Soccer players or join the Army.

Learning Reflection
I am learning to write in the third person.
I am so proud of being able to paint the colour wheel.
It can be tricky to out line the colour wheel eye with vivid.
My buddy can help me if I get stuck.
The next step for me might be to make the colour wheel eye look more realistic.
